Listen To This Story!

Autumn 2022

Seven Stories The National Centre for Children’s Books and Newcastle University

Growing up I loved reading, but I rarely saw myself reflected in the books I read. So I jumped at the opportunity to write Listen To This Story an exhibition celebrating the history of Black British children's books which I curated alongside Seven Stories The National Centre for Children’s Books and Newcastle University. The exhibition also featured excerpts from the podcast Whose Stories? I wrote and produced with them in 2021.

Curator and Lead Organiser

‘What do you want to be when you’re older?’ It’s a question we heard when we were children and our responses followed a similar pattern, a doctor, an actor, a firefighter, an artist. But what about brave?

Or happy? Wise? Or understanding?

The speakers at the 2018 TEDxSurreyUniversity main event explored what we experience in the midst of a life-changing event, the lessons we learn when we leave our comfort zones and the self we become on the other side of the mountain.
